Sulaiman M. Al-Rubaie has more than 14 years of experience in merchant banking and private equity. He has a wealth of experience across many areas including private equity, mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets and restructuring.
He started his career with boutique investment bank, Brask and Company (Acquired by Kaupthing Bank), in their placement and later in their M&A team with a focus on high growth industries. He then moved back to Kuwait to join Global Investment House, one of the leading investment banking and asset management firms in the Gulf Cooperation Council, where he co-led Global’s investment and merchant banking activities. Aside from his providing advisory and M&A services, Mr. Al Rubaie played an instrumental role in starting up several regional leaders, including Al Mazaya Holding company, a real estate development leader; Al Manar, an Islamic consumer finance company; Al Fajer Retakaful, Kuwait’s first Islamic reinsurance company, Al Nawadi Holding, a healthcare club leader created from the merger of three of the largest health clubs in Kuwait; and Al Razzi Holding, one of the leading healthcare conglomerates in Kuwait. He later joined Eastgate Capital Group, the private equity and real estate investment arm of National Commercial Bank of Saudi Arabia, in Dubai in their MENA Direct Equity Fund. He re-joined Global again in 2010 as Vice President in the alternative asset management group and managed the overall restructuring of the Private Equity department and its numerous funds. He has been promoted to become Executive Vice President in 2015.
He currently serves as a Chairman of Al Jazeera Steel Products Company in Oman, a Director in Bicakcilar in Turkey, a Director in Yargici, and Head of the Steering Committee of Jassim Transport Company in Kuwait. He is a former director in Al Nawadi Holding, Al Mazaya Holding, Dar Al Tamleek, BMI Bank, and others.
Mr. Al-Rubaie received his MBA from London Business School and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.
