Eldar Abdrazakov is the Founder & Chief Executive of Centras Capital, a Kazakh leading non-bank financial services group. He chairs the Boards of Group’s principle subsidiaries in insurance, capital markets and private equity. Centras through its two insurance subsidiaries commands #3 combined position in retail insurance in Kazakhstan. Centras Securities is the largest private-sector shareholder in Kazakhstan Stock Exchange and ranked #1 in Equity, Bonds, and Mutual Funds. In private equity, Centras runs two government-sponsored venture funds and was the first Kazakh pure local investment company to raise an international buyout fund with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and CDC Group in 2007.
Prior to founding Centras in 2004, he had spent nine years with Kazkommertsbank’s Group. Eldar was a Partner at Meridian Capital, an industrial investment arm of Kazkommertsbank’s Group, and was responsible for Direct Investments, Capital Markets and Financial Institutions. From 2002 to 2004, Eldar served as CEO of Kazkommerts Securities, an investment banking subsidiary of Kazkommertsbank. The investment management team led by Eldar managed Cayman-based Kazakhstan Investment Fund and helped it recovering distressed assets. He was a Bank Management Board’s member and Head of Investment Banking, Project Finance, Subsidiaries, Financial Institutions, and Treasury.
He chairs the Kazakhstan Competiveness Council at the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs. Eldar is Vice-Chairman at the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange and served on the Board of Directors of EXPO2017, Kazakhtelecom, UzPEC, ABN Amro Asset Management, Kazkommerts Policy, Kazkommertsbank Kyrgyzstan, Zhetysu Asset Management, UlarUmit Pension Fund.
Eldar holds university and master degrees in international economic relations from the Yassawi University, Kazakhstan and is a Harvard Business School’s alumnus (GMP8).
