Richard Frank joined Darby in 2007 and is responsible for the management of Darby’s Latin America Mezzanine Fund I and Fund II (DLAMF I and II). He serves as Investment Committee member for DLAMF II and he was a member of the Board of two of Darby’s Colombian portfolio companies, Avantel S.A. and Termobarranquilla S.A. He has over 16 years of experience in principal investing and investment banking including 8 years with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group as a Senior Investment Officer, where he specialized in general manufacturing investments, and was responsible for due diligence, negotiations and investment closings for the Global Manufacturing and Services Department in Asia, Latin America and Africa. While at IFC he also spent five years as a transaction leader for Latin American restructuring and recovery of distressed equity and loan investments with the Department of Special Operations. There he was involved with restructuring efforts throughout Latin America covering a broad range of industries including textiles, agribusiness, auto-parts and leasing operations. Prior to his MBA, he worked as an Investment Analyst at Emerging Markets Partnership/AIG and at Goldman Sachs Group’s New York Investment Banking Division as a Financial Analyst. Mr. Frank earned his MBA and his Bachelor of Science degree in Management from Georgetown University. Mr. Frank is a dual citizen of the United States and Colombia.
