Tom’s notable Africa transactions include representing Emerging Capital Partners in connection with the landmark private equity fundraise for IHS Holdings, the largest mobile phone tower business in Africa, amounting to USD $3.5 billion, which is the largest single private equity capital raise in the African telecom industry to date, the sale of Continental Re, Nigeria’s largest insurance company, the equity investment in Nairobi Java House which was awarded “Private Equity Deal of the Year” in 2017 by Africa Invest and the acquisition of the East-African leisure dining franchise “Artcaffe” for which the firm was awarded “Africa Deal of the Year—Single Transaction” in 2019 by Private Equity Africa.
